HISTORY OF SAMAL ISLAND
The islet of Samal was firstly called as Sama. That was also the ethnical name of the occupants living in the islet ahead. They were ruled by Datu Taganiyug, a native of Peñaplata. The islet was formerly an established community, with respects to trade, as it joined the trading with China.
When the Spaniards came, the free and peaceful place of Samal was guarded with arms and munitions. Their freedom from its whipper did n’t stop at the rendition of the Spaniards of the whole Philippines as the Japanese took over the whole country.
During the World War II, the islet did n’t escape the woeful events of it. The Japanese figter aeroplanes bombed some of the areas in Samal performing to the death of numerous of its occupants and destruction of important of its place. The people were forced by these Japanese dogfaces to work for four times until they were expelled by the Allied forces.
After the war, the megacity continued to move forward as architectures were erected like seminaries, churches and request places in the area.
July 8, 1948, the entire islet was converted into a megacity. That progress alone didn't stop the megacity to flourish as it was changed to be a chartered megacity on January 30, 1998.
The megacity is the largest resort megacity of the Philippines, due to its good strands, and it also houses numerous sand resorts, similar as Kaputian Resort, Pearl Farm, Paradise Island, and numerous further. It has also multitudinous marine reefs and tranquil waters that bait the excursionists to visit them. Because of these, the Department of Tourism named it one of the stylish visiting islets in Mindanao and now the fastest growing sightseer destination in the country. Therefore, tourism is the main source of income in the megacity. Biggest levies are assessed to tourism and resort assiduity.
Evaporating Islet – half of the 80 hectare ford emerges as beach bar during low drift but vanishes during high drift.
