HISTORY OF NEW CORELLALiteral Development
In the morning, New Corella was a nameless, bitsy speck of the earth with no specific identity of its own, except for the hugeness of its virgin timbers. Lawaan, Guiho, Apitong and Narra trees as well as the crowd of other timber species placarded themselves as exemplars of nature in view of their untroubled, serene colonies. Its mountain peaks glided gradationally down to the lowest planks of hills, as if expressing a gesture of grace by coming to terms with the putatively endless vast plains and lace-like creeks below.
It was said that about the early part of the 20th century, ethnical fiefdoms formerly was in fester marks in the depth of the forestlands before they were explored by civilization. Each has a primitive government approaching that ancient interpretation of Malayan barangay, the precursor of our present barangays. Each Kingdom was ruled by a Datu who was Commander-in-Chief, judge and legislator. Ethnical colonies were jealous about their borders, and irruptions into their sphere were a taboo, and were harsh to the point of wantonness towards those who by chance wandered into their homes. This in turn caused ethnical conflicts and wars with neighbors.
Some fiefdoms valued as gold the luxury of peace, and execrated hostility and bloodshed. One similar area was ruled by Datu Bugsuan, a just sovereign who was profoundly loved and deified by his subjects.
Datu Bugsuan has a beautiful son named Mopiha who was ffianced to Prince Aliwig, who came from a friendly area. On warm days, Mopiha would wander into a creek, and as her habit, wade into the demitasse-clear pool, sheathe on her own bare meat; the water to herself.
Mopiha’s attachment to the creek was deep and bent, and out of love for nature caused her father to decree that no part of the creek should be profaned and that life on its waters were to be saved. Fishing was confined and allowed only on important ethnical feasts. Indeed on these seasons, fingerlings weren't to be want only destroyed.
When Datu Bugsuan failed, Mopiha inherited his area and under the marital rulership with her hubby, Prince Aliwig, she earned the love and respect of her people because of her beauty, wisdom and just heart.
Until her death at a ripe age, Mopiha left a heritage of a sublime love for nature, which is now a incongruity to the present generation. Out of her father’s laws, Mopiha eternalized her association with the foliage and fauna. Timbers were to be their defensive cover and their destruction was original to their death. Wild creatures, catcalls and comestible shops were to be their food; but in stalking, they had to be sapient and largely picky to insure that their chase would not come defunct, and this the tribesmen did through hand- drawn and air-blown munitions. The creek was assured of unmolested actuality, as a result of which it came home of bulging fishes and crustaceans.
For the love of their ethnical queen, the autochthons eternalized their memory of her by naming the clear-like lace of aqueducts, Mopiha of Mopia which came the first reference to New Corella.
